MCSE+I

For MCSEs who specialize in Internet skills. (Retired)

The MCSE+Internet certification was discontinued January 1, 2002, since the exams leading to this skill set retired at the end of February 2001. Microsoft has suggested that anyone who intended to pursue this designation should consider upgrading to any newer MCSE certification. At the time of this title's retirement, the MCSE on Windows 2000 track was introduced.

The MCSE+I was retired for the simple fact that, in many job task analysis surveys it conducted, Microsoft became more aware of the inherent pervasiveness of Internet skills that anyone involved in Windows networking had to possess. Thus, Microsoft began incorporating Internet-related questions into all of the exams it was developing anew and updating.

Microsoft may no longer offer the certification, but if you've managed to obtain it, it's your certification for life. A total of 12,456 MCSE+Internet titles were issued worldwide, according to data from Microsoft (see http://www.microsoft.com/learning/mcp/certified.asp.
